MCB 240: Physiology

Description Study of physiological systems in humans and other animals emphasizing cellular and molecular aspects of function in differentiated cells and tissues (e.g. nerve and muscle). Systems include cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, renal, blood, immune, reproductive, nervous and endocrine. Quantitative approaches will be stressed including those used in metabolic physiology and bioenergetics. Functional adaptations in specific animal species will be studied as well as abnormal function in the disease state when relevant to understanding of normal function. Prerequisite: MCB 150 or consent of instructor.
