March 17, 2010:

If you are advising students who are participating in an internship over the summer, they may be interested in enrolling in ENG 451: Success in the Workplace.  This online summer course is worth two hours of credit and is open to undergraduate students in any discipline who are participating in a professionally-related internship during the summer.  Illinois students receive a discount on the online tuition, for a total cost of $1,006 (regular online course tuition for two hours is $1,778).  The course focuses on development of non-technical skills, including interpersonal skills (networking, leadership, project management, etc.) and basic business concepts (contracts, reading annual reports, marketing principles, etc.).  More information, including a course syllabus, is available on the course site, located at http://engineering.illinois.edu/current-students/eng-451-success-workplace.  Please contact Sarah Zehr at szehr@illinois.edu if you have questions.  Thank you!
