School of MCB Professorial Scholars

Title
Catalyzing high-impact research
Body

The School of MCB Professorial Scholar enables alumni, corporate partners, and friends to celebrate and support the work of recently-tenured faculty who lead promising research programs and have been recognized for outstanding teaching and mentoring. Providing these academic leaders with ready, expendable funds gives them the flexibility to pursue a novel research idea or swiftly address a programmatic need without slowing the pace of progress. Examples of these leading initiatives within the school include:

  • Cancer biology, cancer immunology, and metastasis
  • Neuronal circuits; neurological diseases, such as epilepsy and anorexia nervosa; neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's; the role of neuroinflammatory response in diseases
  • Metabolic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, fatty liver disease
  • Developmental biology, stem cells, and tissue regeneration
  • High-resolution structural analysis of macromolecules (proteins and RNA)
  • Placental dysfunctions and reproductive disorders
  • Emerging viruses and antibiotic-resistant bacteria
  • Microbial ecology and evolution

By funding a professorial scholar in the School of MCB, you not only empower talented faculty and advance research, you help build a scholarly community rich with learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
