The School of MCB
The School of MCB is the largest school in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, at Illinois’ flagship campus in Urbana-Champaign. We are a rich and close-knit community of scholars focused on research, education, and discovery in a broad spectrum of disciplines. The collaborative spirit among colleagues in the school and on the campus sustains a large community of peers in our graduate programs. Regular gatherings focused on scholarship or relationship ensure successful mentoring and enrich the graduate experience.
A modern community of 100,000, Urbana-Champaign lies in the middle of Illinois’ farming region, conveniently located less than 2 hours south of Chicago, about 2 hours west of Indianapolis, and 3 hours north of St. Louis. The entertainment and recreational opportunities on and near the campus include a wide variety of musical, artistic, and sporting events. A wide variety of reasonably priced housing is available in Urbana and Champaign. The university maintains housing for single and married graduate students, and many private apartments and rental houses are also available near the campus.
