My name is Andy Nisipeanu and I am majoring in MCB in the honors concentration. On campus I play the oboe in the UIUC Wind Orchestra and have also been in the Philharmonia. I am involved in research in Martha Gillette's lab. Our main research goal is to understand the signals that engage the circadian clockwork in the brain, sub-cellular microenvironments that shape neuronal dendrites in development and repair, and emergent behaviors of integrated neuronal systems. I also work in the MCB lab prep staff for MCB 101 and MCB 301. We help make sure the microbiology labs are prepared before every class. I recently got a job as a CNA at Clark Lindsey, an assisted living facility on campus. I am passionate about working with the elderly and love volunteering in senior homes through an RSO on campus called Illini Fighting Alzheimer's. I am also involved in the largest pre-health fraternity AED. Some things I like to do in my free time is spend time with friends, watch movies, and explore new restaurants on campus. A couple of fun facts about me is I speak Romanian, I play four instruments, and I love to run!
