Meet Maaz Bashir

Hey everyone! My name is Maaz Bashir, and I am a junior majoring in MCB Honors with a minor in Business. I am currently on the pre-medical track, and I am also a board member for two RSOs. I am the treasurer of the Avicenna RSO, an RSO that helps students learn more about the free healthcare clinic for the uninsured and the underinsured. I am also the screening coordinator for the Illini Medical Screening Society, an organization that provides free medical screenings to the Urbana-Champaign Community. I am also a part of many other organizations including the Pakistani Student Association, MedLife, the American Medical Student Association, Phi Delta Epsilon, and a few others. I have also been a volunteer at Carle Hospital and Avicenna, along with a few other hospitals. I have volunteered in many departments, including the NICU, pre-operative area, and observation floors. Over the summer I worked as a NeuroStar TMS technician where I helped treat patients with depression. The machine I worked with used a set of pulses that are targeted into the brain to release neurotransmitters. In my free time, I enjoy working out, running, playing tennis/basketball/soccer, hanging out with my friends and family, and cooking. I feel as though I’m an easy person to talk to, so feel free to reach out to me with any questions or anything at all and I hope to see you guys soon!
