Regular walk-ins end May 7th, but we will be hosting afternoon walk-ins May 24 - 27 for students with questions about PZ/NZ. Please see the calendar below for specific times.

MCB advisors are only a click away! This spring semester, while we are working from home, we are holding Walk-in Advising every weekday. Add your name to our Queue, once the advisor indicates that they've started answering, you can join our Zoom room, and an advisor will help you. Check out our calendar below for days and times.


All MCB advising appointments are currently being conducted via phone or through Zoom. You can schedule your appointment by calling 217-333-6774 or by using our online appointment scheduling system. You can always email us at and we will do our best to respond within 24 hours.

The current curriculum change period: June7 through June 25, 2021. If you are interested in declaring an MCB major please attend one of our MCB information meetings. Current biology majors do not need to attend a meeting. They may simply fill out this form.

Express Advising, Walk-in Advising & MCB Workshops
Biology freshmen are welcome to go to either MCB or IB Express hours.

Prospective Student MCB information meetings.

Prospective students must attend an information meeting before they are allowed to sign up for an individual advising meeting with an MCB advisor. 

All MCB informational meetings will be offered virtually via Zoom this fall.

 Transferring to MCB from Another LAS Major on the Urbana Campus

Current Illinois undergraduates, in an LAS major, who wish to change their major to MCB must complete the following steps.

  1. Attend an MCB informational meeting.
  2. Complete the Curriculum Change Form during the posted application period. Students will receive an email indicating whether or not they have been accepted to MCB once the form has been processed.

Intercollegiate Transfers (ICT) (Transferring to MCB from a non-LAS Major on the Urbana Campus)

Current Illinois undergraduates who wish to ICT into the College of LAS and declare MCB as a major, must complete the following steps.

  1. Attend an LAS information session.
  2. Attend an MCB informational meeting.
  3. Apply online using the link emailed to you by the College of LAS. Students will receive an email indicating whether or not they have been accepted to MCB once your application has been processed.
