How To Make An Appointment
Please call 217-333-6774 during normal business hours or stop by 127 Burrill to schedule an appointment with the advisor or your choice. If you get the answering machine please speak slowly and clearly, leaving your name and a phone number where we can reach you. We will return your call as soon as we are able.
Students in MCB are not assigned an advisor, but are free to meet with any of the MCB advisors that are available (see our staff bios here ). We encourage you to find someone that you are comfortable with and meet with that person at least once per semester. Biological Sciences students are free to meet with either an IB or MCB advisor (or both) until they have chosen their degree program. Freshmen in the specialized curriculum of Biochemistry will meet with MCB advisors until the end of their freshmen year. After that Biochem majors will meet with Jeff Goldberg in 420B RAL. Jeff can be reached by phone at 217-244-3149.
We typically do not accept same day appointments, so please stop in to 127 Burrill Hall or call us to set up a time to meet with your advisor in advance. During busy times, like the beginning of a semester and early registration, it is best to schedule your appointment at least 1 week in advance. If you are unable to keep your appointment for any reason please call to cancel or re-schedule. Appointment times vary between 30 minutes and 1 hour depending on the nature of your question.
