Linda Birnbaum and Keith Westcott Honored by LAS with Top Alumni Awards

Linda Birnbaum and Keith Westcott are two of the four winners of the top alumni awards from the University of Illinois College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in 2010.

Colin Wraight and James Imlay Receive MCB Faculty Excellence Award

On Friday, September 10, the MCB Faculty Excellence Award was presented to Professor of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Computational Biology, and Plant Biology Colin Wraight; and to Professor of Microbiology James Imlay.

Of the approximately 100 cases that the Campus Committee on Promotion and Tenure reviewed this year, Associate Professor of Biochemistry Emad Tajkhorshid's dossier was one of just four recognized as exceptional in terms of quality of work and overall achievement.

Meet MCB: Biochemistry PhD student Quinn Peterson

Biochemistry Student Quinn Peterson has been awarded a 2009-2010 American Chemical Society Predoctoral Fellowship. He is working on a cancer treatment, and doing clinical tests on dogs.

Swanlund Professor of Cell and Developmental Biology and Molecular and Integrative Physiology Benita Katzenellenbogen has received the 2009 Susan G. Komen for the Cure Brinker Award for Scientific Distinction for her work investigating breast cancer treatments.
