Meet Maya Raviv

Hey all! I’m Maya (she/her), a senior in MCB Honors with minors in Chemistry and Creative Writing. Freshman year is when I decided to hop onto the pre-medical track, and now I’m finally applying to medical schools! On campus, I’m a research assistant at Dr. Brieher’s cell biology lab, where I conduct my own project about the relationship between tyrosine kinase signaling, actin polymerization, and cell adhesion. My lab is awesome, I can talk about it for hours! I’m also the social chair of MEDLIFE, a health volunteer organization, where I’ve met many, many of my friends. I work as an EMT-B at Illini Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) and a Patient Care Technician at my hometown hospital. In my free time, I love hanging out with friends, cooking, reading, writing short stories, sitting at coffee shops, and over-analyzing movies. Transitioning into college can be scary, but most exciting things are! I’m here to help you navigate through the unknowns so things get a little less daunting. If you have any questions about the transition, extracurriculars, medicine, biology, research, or cartoons I am probably too old to watch, feel free to reach out!
