School of MCB advising office - hours of operation

  • The advising office is open from 9 am to 5 pm M-F

If you are feeling ill but need to meet with an advisor, we ask that you schedule a virtual Zoom meeting. If you have a previously scheduled in-person appointment, please email or call or office to switch to virtual. We hope to keep our staff and other students healthy throughout the semester and appreciate your assistance. Should you need to miss class due to illness, please follow the guidelines found in the syllabus or website for each individual course. If you need an absence letter for an extended absence from class (3 or more days) please contact the Student Assistance Center through the Office of the Dean of Students.

MCB Advising is here to help! Regular 30-minute appointments can be scheduled with an advisor of your choice using our online scheduling system, calling us at 217-333-6774, or visiting 200 Burrill Hall.

Prospective School of MCB majors meetings

Prospective students must attend an information meeting before they are allowed to sign up for an individual advising meeting with a School of MCB advisor. All meetings will be in person.


Transferring to School of MCB majors from other College of LAS majors

Current Illinois undergraduates, in an LAS major, who wish to change their major to a School of MCB major must complete the following steps.

  1. Attend a School of MCB informational meeting.
  2. Complete the Curriculum Change Form during the posted application period. Students will receive an email indicating whether or not they have been accepted once the form has been processed.

Intercollegiate Transfers (ICT) (Transferring to School of MCB)

Current Illinois undergraduates who wish to ICT into the College of LAS and declare a major within the School of MCB must complete the following steps.

  1. Attend an LAS information session.
  2. Attend an School of MCB informational meeting.
  3. Apply online using the link emailed to you by the College of LAS. Students will receive an email indicating whether or not they have been accepted once your application has been processed.

Drop-in and Express Advising
Visit the school's drop-in advising queue
Drop-in meetings are offered daily throughout the semester and are designed to be quick, 10- minute sessions. Express appointments provide additional access to advisors and are held during high volume times. If a longer discussion is necessary you will be asked to schedule a full 30-minute appointment.
