How To Make An Appointment
Please call 217-333-6774 during normal business hours or use our Online Scheduler. If you receive voicemail, please speak slowly and clearly, leaving your name and a phone number where we can reach you. We will return your call as soon as we are able.
For all advising appointments you will be given the choice of in-person, online (via a free app called Zoom, https://illinois.zoom.us/), or over the phone. If you choose the Zoom option an advisor will send you an email invite for the meeting. You must use your Illinois email and NetID password when joining the meeting. If you choose the phone option, please be sure to leave an accurate number where we can reach you.
We typically do not accept same day appointments. So please set up a time to meet with your advisor in advance. During busy times, like the beginning of a semester and early registration, it is best to schedule your appointment at least 1 week in advance. If you are unable to keep your appointment for any reason please call to cancel or re-schedule. Appointment times vary between 30 minutes and 1 hour depending on the nature of your question.
Drop-In and Express Advising
Drop in to speak with an MCB advisor to get your questions answered! No appointment needed for drop-in and express advising. Drop-in meetings are offered daily throughout the semester and are designed to be quick, 10-minute sessions. Express appointments provide additional access to advisors and are held during high volume times. They have same format as drop-ins. If a longer discussion is necessary you will be asked to schedule a full 30-minute appointment. Drop-in and express appointments can be in person, online, or by phone. In all cases you must sign in to our queue and follow the directions in the staff message.
